“Casa dos Atletas II” is Phase 4 of the Portuguese Soccer Federation complex in Caxias, which opened in December 2025.
The challenge was clear from the start: to create a new residential wing that would serve as a natural extension of the existing building, rather than as a standalone project. The same architectural language, the same key materials, the same visual coherence—so that anyone walking through both buildings would perceive the complex as a single whole.
The hexagon concept, which already guided the original design, remains the central theme. Present in the details of the furniture and lighting, a geometric motif inspired by a soccer ball runs through the new spaces in a subtle yet always recognizable way.
The 30 rooms, spread across three floors, are defined by a restrained and sophisticated palette: walls clad in textile panels in shades of gray, oak flooring, carpeting, and integrated indirect lighting. The Portuguese identity shines through in the details; cushions in the colors of the national flag—present without ever being overpowering. The windows open directly onto the training fields, establishing a visual connection between rest and competition.
The interior finishes feature domestic brands and manufacturers, particularly in upholstery and textile coverings, chosen for their ability to withstand the intensive use typical of a high-performance sports facility: washable, durable fabrics that remain stable over time. The same logic guided the selection of flooring, acoustic panels, and furniture—materials that maintain their visual quality without requiring frequent replacement. The result is a functional and refined interior, where aesthetic restraint is not a limitation but rather a deliberate choice—and where the complex’s brand image is defined by the consistency of its materials rather than by ostentatious finishes.
With this expansion, the complex’s total accommodation capacity increases from 44 to 74 beds, primarily serving the national futsal teams and complementing the logistical support provided to all teams and national squads that train at Cidade do Futebol, from the U-15s to the senior national team.
