The Spacemakers studio was commissioned to design the renovation and expansion of a family home in the Restelo neighborhood of Lisbon. An old house completely transformed, preserving the main façade and the original character of the townhouse, but reinventing everything else.
The near-total demolition of the interior structure and the rear facade paved the way for a bold, contemporary spatial narrative. The structural concept centers on the staircase—the organizing element around which an interplay unfolds among five intermediate floors, designed to reconcile the client’s program with the varying elevations between the front and rear of the lot.
The new layout was designed with sharing and fluidity in mind: the main entrance, the living room, the garden, and the pool are now interconnected and visually seamless, creating a natural dialogue between the interior and exterior.
Color, personality, and boldness are evident in every room. High-quality materials, original architectural solutions, and numerous custom pieces designed by the studio make this a signature project—where the transformation is complete and the identity unmistakable.
