Designed by the architectural firm RISCO, Spacemakers was responsible for the interior design and decoration of the Athletes’ Accommodation building at Cidade do Futebol, which is rated equivalent to a 4-star hotel. The building was constructed to address the lack of dedicated accommodation for the athletes and technical staff of the Portuguese Football Federation’s national teams during training camps at the Cidade do Futebol complex.
The goal is for the building to serve as a facility capable of hosting teams ranging from the U-15 squads to the senior national team. The design proposal addresses this objective by emphasizing formal and aesthetic choices as key factors in enhancing the facilities.
Creative Concept: In geometry, a hexagon is a polygon with six sides that can be divided into six equilateral triangles. Its six angles are each 60 degrees. In geometry, the number 6 is associated with perfection—it is the geometric shape in which a perfect circle is inscribed and, along with the pentagon, the constituent shape of a soccer ball.
The HEXAGON serves as the central theme of the entire interior design concept. It is evident throughout both common and private spaces, taking on a fluid form and pattern that adapts to the unique characteristics of each area—featured in wall finishes and coverings, decorative panels, flooring, upholstery, furniture, and textile accessories.
The concept is based on the idea of maintaining the look and feel of the spaces designed specifically for players in the main building of Cidade do Futebol.
