The owner of this two-bedroom apartment is a collector of antiques, and the challenge presented to the Spacemakers studio was clear: to incorporate the pieces from his collection into a comfortable space for the whole family. Without committing to any particular style, a tour through the various rooms reveals distinct atmospheres. The concept for the project was precisely to embrace its eclectic nature and vary the design choices.
The family living area, which includes the living room and dining area, features neutral tones and rich textures. The sofa with a chaise longue was custom-made by the Spacemakers studio. To separate the two areas, a dark brown suede Chesterfield sofa was repurposed. In the center stands a Noguchi table by Isamu Noguchi, a modernist piece from the 1950s.
Gray, black, and gold were the colors chosen for the suite. A Baroque-style mirror above the headboard catches the eye and is one of the owners’ favorite pieces. On the nightstands are two lamps with bases made of Estremoz marble.
With gray tweed-patterned wallpaper, the office is an unmistakably masculine space. The decor features a few standout pieces, such as the original leather chaise longue by Le Corbusier and the wall clock, both of which are part of the couple’s collection.
For the twins’ bedroom, two custom-designed, mismatched bunk beds were created, along with a bookshelf for storing books and toys. The world map theme, set against the red stripes on the bedspreads, leaves plenty of room for imagination and exploration.
